About Us

Currently, StartingGoalies.ca is a goalie coaching service that gains new clients, exclusively through word-of-mouth within the minor hockey community (GTHL and NYHL, primarily). That community, while strong, is quite small and saturated with other coaches and similar services.

The long term goal is to pivot the business to not only provide coaching services within the established minor hockey community, but to grow into an independent training facility that looks to pull new kids and adults into hockey at the lowest, most recreational level possible. By focusing on the east end of the GTA, with a high immigrant and adult recreational hockey population, StartingGoalies.ca believes there is ample opportunity for growth of the business and encouragement of physical activity within the community.

The two main barriers facing new goalies right now are:

high (and at times overwhelming) amount of basic knowledge required to get into hockey, and even more when getting into goaltending - equipment, physical ability and technique, safety concerns, etc.
high initial and ongoing costs - equipment, ice time and training, etc. can quickly turn most families and individuals away from hockey and goaltending before they even start

StartingGoalies.ca is looking to transform into a service that reduces (and ideally eliminates) these barriers while continuing to provide in-depth training and coaching for individuals who are already established.
